A Wisconsin State Patrol trooper on patrol in Racine County Sunday was called to the on Highway K after someone reported a car driving erratically on eastbound I-94, then exiting the expressway and going to the business. When the trooper arrived, the car was leaving, but the driver continued to hit the brakes while driving erratically.

The trooper pulled the car over and Romero was driving and smelled of alcohol, but denied drinking. He told the trooper he didn’t have his license with him and he was driving his brother’s car, then gave a different name and date of birth.

When the trooper discovered the date of birth didn’t match the name Romero gave him, he placed him under arrest. Romero then told the trooper he would look “stupid” for arresting him, then began to taunt him, saying his shoes were worth more than the officer’s entire outfit.

Officers then discovered an open bottle of champagne inside the car, which was still cold and had some liquid still inside.

Romero then asked for the trooper’s name, saying “I will see you and your kids” when he got out of jail. He was then taken in for a blood test, but refused and continued to threaten the lives of the officers.

Romero is currently being held in Racine County Jail on $10,000 bail.
