Man Charged after Getting Mail Order Marijuana

A drug sniffing dog seizes over 1,000 grams of drugs.

The Racine County District Attorney’s Office issued drug charges against a Caledonia man for allegedly obtaining drugs through the mail.

Daniel Rempala, 6715 White Birch Court, was charged with possession of marijuana, intent to deliver and maintaining a drug trafficking place. Both charges are second offenses for Rempala.

If convicted of both charges, Rempala faces up to 28 years, six months in prison and/or fines up to $35,000.

According to a criminal complaint by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office, a Milwaukee Police Officer’s drug sniffing dog, Dozer, hit on a package in a mail distribution center. The police officer obtained a search warrant, opened the package and found 984 grams of marijuana and 82 grams of hashish powder.

The Milwaukee Police sent the package to the Racine County Metro Drug Unit and an undercover detective delivered the package to Rempala. Once Rempala took possession of the package, officials with the drug unit obtained a search warrant and arrested Rempala. Detectives also found two scales, documents and drug paraphernalia.

Rempala is being held on a $10,000 bail at the Racine County Jail. A preliminary hearing has been set at 9 a.m. March 31 in the Racine County Felony Court Judge Eugene A Gasiorkiewicz's courtroom.
