Officers with the Caledonia Police Department arrested a 39-year-old Caledonia man for disorderly conduct after he threatened to commit suicide.

The man, who has mental health issues, is currently being held at the Racine County Jail on a probation/parole hold.

According to a report by the Caledonia Police Department, the man argued with a woman because she refused to give him alcohol or sleeping pills at 1:29 a.m. Tuesday in the 1600 block of September Drive. Five officers from Caledonia and Wind Point responded to the call. When they got to the house, the man had fled on foot and no one knew where he went.

A witness told police the man had left the house at 1:15 a.m. saying he was going to buy mouthwash at a nearby store. The woman told police the man had “been acting strange.” She didn’t think the medication he took for his mental illness was working because he said he wanted to go back to jail and “he was sick of being on probation.”

The woman tried to stop the man from leaving the home after he demanded sleeping pills and alcohol from her, but he told the woman if she didn’t get out of the way, he would hurt her. After shoving the woman, the man left the house, according to the report.

Police officers found the man walking on 4 ½ Mile Road at Randal Lane, he told police he did brush past her and told police, “Well, maybe she may have hit the wall.”

Police arrested the man, who said he had no intentions of killing himself.
