A Racine County sheriff’s deputy was on patrol in Caledonia Sunday when he spotted Del Aguila driving an SUV and turn from Highway K onto East Frontage Road without using a turn signal. The deputy pulled the SUV over and Del Aguila said his first name was Jose even though his license said Adrian.

Del Aguila then spelled out Jose and also told the deputy his driver’s license was suspended for unpaid parking tickets and he had no insurance for the vehicle he was driving. The deputy found the information was true for Jose Del Aguila, so he placed him under arrest and took him to Racine County Jail.

Shortly after the deputy left the jail a supervisor contacted him and said an ID system showed Del Aguila was actually named Adrian and he had a felony arrest warrant pending in Milwaukee for eluding police. The deputy then returned to the jail and had Del Aguila charged twice with obstructing an officer for lying to him and jail staff.

Del Aguila made his initial appearance in court Tuesday and was assigned a $600 signature bond while awaiting trial.
