Man Makes Police Kick in His Door
Suspect refuses to come outside or give his name after a fight with his wife and tells officers they need to kick in the door to come and get him.
A 30-year-old Franksville man is facing charges after he allegedly made officers kick in his garage door in order to be taken into custody.
John E. Vanhara was charged in Racine County Circuit Court Monday with one count of disorderly conduct domestic abuse, four counts of felony bail jumping and two counts of obstructing an officer. If convicted, he faces up to nearly 26 years in prison and $61,000 in fines.

On Sunday, Caledonia police officers were called to a residence in the 10400 block of Dunkelow Road on the report of a civil disturbance, where they found Vanhara and a woman screaming inside a garage. An officer banged loudly on the door and yelled “police,” so the woman eventually came outside to talk.
The woman smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech and told officers she was having an argument with the man, but wouldn’t give anymore information. Vanhara remained in the garage and refused to come out or give his name.

Officers continued to command Vanhara to come out, but he kept refusing, telling officers they would need to kick his garage door in so he could sue the department and get a new one. Eventually officers ended up having to kick the door in and arrest Vanhara.
Vanhara also told officers his last name was Rodriguez, however, one of the officers recognized him from past run-ins and identified him by his real name.
He’s currently being held in Racine County Jail on $3,000 bail while awaiting trial.
