Man Out on Bond for Bomb Scare Charged with 3rd OWI

A Caledonia man is charged with third offenses related to OWI while he was out on bond for a bomb scare threat.

A Caledonia man is facing third offense operating while intoxicated charges after Racine police pulled him over last month for a registration violation.

Regis Brown, 32, was ordered in for his initial appearance Wednesday to face felony charges for a third OWI, a third operating with prohibited alcohol concentration and felony bail jumping, repeater. His appearance was postponed until July 31 because, court records indicate, his defense attorney "showed up but didn't stick around."

According to the criminal complaint, RAPD officers at 9:10 p.m. on Jule 21 observed a vehicle deviating slightly within its lane on Washington Avenue near Boyd. When police made contact with the driver - later identified as Brown - they noticed his speech was slurred, his eyes were bloodshot and they could smell the odor of intoxicants.

Police say Brown failed field sobriety tests and a blood draw result from Wheaton Franciscan St. Mary's came back with a .248 result.

At the time of Brown's traffic stop, he was out on bond from a January bomb scare threat involving the former Mixers Nightclub at the old Paradise West bowling alley.
