Michigan Man Loses His Job And He Picks A Fight WIth His Employer

A Michigan man likely won’t be getting a letter of recommendation from his former employer after he allegedly picked a fight with the man who was trying to train him to drive a semi-tractor trailer.

According to a report by the Caledonia Police Department, they were called to a fight in progress at 2:56 p.m. Friday at the Pilot Truck Stop, 13712 Northwestern Avenue. An employee of Super Service Freight Lines was training a new employee that did not pass his probationary period, which had lasted five weeks.

The trainer told police that while driving to Michigan he told his student that he wouldn’t have a job after Saturday and the man started “intentionally doing things of an unsafe nature,” including not following his instructions and almost causing a crash. The trainer told police he asked the man to pull off so that he could drive, and the man drove to the Pilot Truck Stop.

Acting aggressively, the trainer told the man to walk away, but he refused and would not get out of the truck. Eventually the man did get out of the truck and the trainer was filling the truck up with gas when the man came back and started acting aggressive again.

While the man was getting into the semi, the trainer grabbed one of the man’s legs, but the man swung at the trainer and hit him in the face with his fist. The trainer then got a wooden tire thumper and “gave the command of ‘Driver, walk away’ as he repeatedly struck the steel running boards with the tire thumper.”

The man walked away, but then returned and snuck into the trailer to get his wallet. While he was walking away, the police officer arrived.

The trainer didn’t want to press charges, and a company official told police they would address the problem. The officer told both parties to go their separate ways.
