Three Teens Suspected of Burglaries in Mount Pleasant, Caledonia

Mount Pleasant police confirm three teenage boys who allegedly broke into a home on Donegal may also be responsible for home invasions in Caledonia, too.

**Updated 9 am, May 2.

Three teenagers suspected of breaking into a home in Mount Pleasant may also have tried to break into several homes in Caledonia.

"They are being looked at for numerous burglaries," confirmed Mount Pleasant Police Captain Brian Smith.

Patch does have a call into Sgt. Brian Wall of the Caledonia Police Department for more details.

The MPPD say good looking out by neighbors on Green Haze Drive helped them catch two of three juvenile burglary suspects.

Officers responded at 5:23 pm Monday to calls of suspicious persons. Specifically, there were three teenage boys on the porch of a home in the 2400 block of Green Haze who were also looking into the backyard and garage of another residence.

When police arrived, the suspects were gone, but a second call to dispatch had them sited at the intersection of Highways 38 and 31. All three suspects fled on foot, going east, when officers arrived. One suspect was apprehended near the intersection of Highway 38 and MM at the Root River.

Squads from Caledonia and the Racine Police K-9 unit also responded, chasing a second suspect north along the river. He was eventually located in a garage in the neighborhood near the intersection of Highway 31 and Johnson.

Mount Pleasant Police Sargeant David Stroupe said while officers were engaged in the chase, dispatch received a call from a homeowner in the 2800 block of Donegal Road reporting a break-in and burglary to their home.

"We did get a call from a resident of Mount Pleasant saying they experienced a break-in," he confirmed.

The suspects, all of whom are described as black, male juveniles. Two of them, a 13- and a 15-year-old are being held at the Racine County Juvenile Detention Center facing a felony count of burglary and a misdemeanor charge of obstructing an officer.

Stroupe confirmed on Tuesday that police have identified the third suspect as a 16-year-old male.

"We know who he is and we are working on bringing him in," he said.

Charges have been sent to the Racine County District Attorney's office, Stroupe added.
