No One Injured In Friday Morning Fire, But Cause Unknown

A Caledonia home was severely damaged during an early morning blaze, but no one was injured. Firefighters don't know the cause of the fire, but they do know it started in a bedroom.

A Caledonia home was severely damaged, but no one was injured in a fire that happened at 3:08 a.m. Friday at 6919 Beech Road.

According to a report by the , flames and smoke could be seen coming from the residence. A woman told police that her house was burning down, but everyone was outside except for her dog.

When she had come home at 1 a.m., the power was out and had been out for two hours.

The woman told police she didn’t know what started the fire, but she woke up and she ran out the back door. Firefighters determined that the fire started in the woman’s bedroom in her bed, but they could not determine the cause of the fire.

The woman, who was inside the house at the time of the fire, doesn’t own the house and had been staying there with the owner’s permission. The owner told police the house was in foreclosure and wasn’t insured.

The home had severe fire damage, there was a foot of water in the basement and the northwest bedroom was “completely burned down.”
