Not So Fast, Caledonia Cop Finds Jewelry And Used Needles In Former Heroin User's Car

Man says he's been off heroin for three weeks, but looking in the trunk of his car you wouldn't guess it.

During a traffic stop, police found used needles, jewelry, electronics and drug paraphernalia in a man’s car at 5:15 p.m. Oct. 3.

Alex Giuliani, 21, of , was given a citation for driving while suspended in the 4100 block of Erie Street.

Two other occupants were in the car, one of which had prior drug-related arrests and so did Giuliani.  Initially the officer told him he could leave, but as he walked away he turned around and asked if Giuliani had anything illegal in the car.

Giuliani told the officer he would find heroin needles in the car because he was a former heroin addict, and he was on his way to a friend’s house to get rid of them.

Police found Suboxone, a narcotic medication, which Guiliani said he had a prescription for, three plastic bottles, two of which were filled with needles, alcohol wipes, a printer, a laptop computer bag and a rubber arm tie. A bag also had numerous jewelry boxes that had necklaces, earrings, watches and rings.

The jewelry belonged to Giuliani’s deceased grandmother, the printer and computer bag belonged to a man who is jail and Giuliani said he would get a copy of the prescription.

Police suspect the items may have been “unlawfully obtained,” according to the report. However, they are still investigating. Giuliani was not taken into custody and not arrested, but he was given a citation for driving while suspended.
