Police Arrest Woman for Drunk Driving

The car the woman was driving was stuck on the railroad tracks.

A woman was arrested under suspicion of drunk driving after she got her car stuck on the railroad tracks at 8:27 p.m. Thursday.

Beth Belanger, 41, of Caledonia, was also arrested operating a vehicle while having a prohibited alcohol content and driving too fast for conditions.

According to a report by the Caledonia Police Department, Belanger drove a Chevrolet Impala, which she got stuck on the Canadian Pacific Railroad tracks. Belanger told police she was westbound on Highway K and wanted to turn right onto Highway H in Franksville. She thought the train tracks were another a road and tried to turn around on the tracks, but then the car got stuck. Train traffic was shutdown and the vehicle had to be towed.

Belanger failed a field sobriety test and her blood-alcohol content was .17, over twice the legal limit.

After her arrest, Belanger was released to a family member.
