Police Blotter: Man Allegedly Puts Daughter's Boyfriend In Choke Hold

Caledonia police responded to a report that a 57-year-old man allegedly put his daughter's boyfriend in a choke hold on July 28.  

The man came to the couple's home, walked up behind the boyfriend, put his arm around his neck and said, "if you hurt her, "I'm going to (expletive) kill you," according to the police report.  

The man, who was supposedly drunk, then went into the bathroom and took a shower, the report said. The victim did not want to press charges. The address where the incident occurred was not published to protect the victim. 

Also in the Caledonia Police log: 

  • A 25-year-old man allegedly stole a $600 cell phone from his supervisor at the Pilot Truck Stop, 13712 Northwestern Ave., at 10 p.m. July 26. The man, who worked at the trucked stop, was seen on a surveillance video taking the phone, according to the police report. The man, who admitted stealing the phone to police, was fired on the spot. The supervisor did not wish to file charges. 

  • Three men and woman were given a warning for excessive noise by police in the 4300 block of Kennedy Drive at 1:45 a.m. July 28. The group was drinking in a garage. Some of the excessive noise was caused by one of the men, who was mad at the woman about a bad hair cut she gave him, according to the police report.  A 52-year-old man was taken into custody at County Road K and Northwestern Avenue for drunk driving at 1 a.m. July 28. The man, driving a black Porche, was pulled over after he drove over the center line, according to police.  Officers determined he had been drinking through field sobriety tests, according to the report. The man refused a breath test, police said.
  • Police observed a man walking north on East Frontage Road at County Road G at 1:30 a.m. July 30. The man told police that he left Chicago three or four days ago by foot because of "gang issues." He added that he was going to Milwaukee to stay out of trouble. Police gave him a lift to Howell Avenue and Centennial Drive.
