Police Catch Reckless Driver, But Had To Block Off Gas Station

Police from several jurisdictions searched for a reckless driver that they thought had a weapon in the car. Turned out there wasn't a weapon in the car at all, but one boy had some marijuana, say Caledonia Police.

A 17-year-old Caledonia boy got into hot water after his friend was driving recklessly through three jurisdictions Monday night.

The 17-year-old passenger was cited for possession of marijuana.

According to a report by the Caledonia Police Department, the driver of a brown Crown Victoria was seen driving recklessly near 4 Mile Road and North Main Street at 6:27 p.m. Friday by a Wind Point police officer and Racine police officer. The Wind Point officer told Caledonia Police the car was headed west on 4 Mile Road and that weapons may be involved. Several city officers told Caledonia they knew the people in the car and would follow up with them.

Caledonia officers stopped searching for the car, but about 15 minutes later Racine officers stopped a brown Crown Victoria in the parking lot of Speedway, 4960 Douglas Ave.

While in the parking lot, several Racine and Caledonia police officers detained the four occupants in the car. Police blocked off the Speedway parking lot to prevent further customers from coming in. A drug-sniffing dog found a small baggie of marijuana in a pallet of firewood. During the investigation, one of the  passengers told police the marijuana was his.
