Police: Four Charged After Fight at 7-Mile Fair

Racine County Sheriff's deputies say a woman urged her boyfriend and his siblings to beat up her ex-boyfriend while she yelled insults at him.

Deputies say three members of the same family are facing battery and strangulation charges after they allegedly beat up a man who dated the girlfriend of one of the defendants.

Alexander, Jose and Angelina Perez were charged Thursday in Racine County Circuit Court with one felony count each of substantial battery and strangulation/suffocation. If convicted, they each face up to 9-1/2 years in jail and/or up to $20,000 in fines.

Samantha Sampson was charged Tuesday with one felony count of substantial battery and a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct. If convicted, she faces up to three years, nine months in jail and/or up to $11,000 in fines.

According to their criminal complaints, a man and his girlfriend were looking at jewelry at 7-Mile Fair over the weekend when the man was attacked by the Perez siblings after Sampson yelled "child molester" at him and urged the trio to attack the man.

Deputies say the two Perez brothers punched and choked the man while Sampson yelled insults at him. Sampson also took part in the attack, punching the man and choking him as well.

Security footage from the fair did not show the fight but did clearly feature the defendants exiting the building quickly, the complaint reads. Deputies were able to pull the license plate number from surveillance video and trace it back to Sampson.

When Sampson was interviewed by deputies, she admitted to yelling slurs at the man, but said he threw the first punch after words were exchanged with the Perez siblings. Officers say Sampson also said fair security tried to break up the fight and that she encouraged the group to leave quickly to avoid getting into trouble.

The man did suffer a wound to the top of his head that required seven staples to close, but he refused rescue at the scene and transported himself to the hospital, the complaint reads.

Sampson was assigned a $1,000 signature bond and will have her preliminary hearing on Sept. 19. The Perez siblings remain in the Racine County Jail on $2,500 cash bonds each and they are all scheduled to have their preliminary hearings on Sept. 12.
