Police: 'Just Hanging Out' with Cocaine Leads to Charges

Police say "hanging out" with cocaine landed this Caledonia man in custody and facing drug charges.

A Caledonia man is facing drug charges after police say they found him doing lines of cocaine with a friend.

Dustin Costanzo, 24, had his initial appearance on a single felony count of possession of cocaine, second offense, postponed again in Racine County Circuit Court. When he was first arrested, he was assigned a $750 cash bond, which he posted.

According to the criminal complaint, Mount Pleasant police at 11:36 p.m. on July 13 observed a motorcycle make a quick turn into a business on South Memorial Drive and park next to a silver Mitsubishi. When officers approached, they saw a male in the driver's seat moving his head in a motion consistent with snorting lines of cocaine.

Police say they knocked on the window and shown a flashlight into the car. The passenger, also a male, wiped a substance off the center console. Officers asked the passenger to step out of the car, and when asked what the men were doing, the man said they were "just hanging out."

A search of the car turned up a white powdery substance in various locations and a rolled $20 bill.

Costanzo's first initial appearance was scheduled for Thursday, but online court records indicate it has been pushed until Aug. 22.
