Police: Man Cuts Boyfriend with Box Cutter

A Caledonia man who police say used a box cutter during an argument with his boyfriend is now in jail.

Police say a domestic dispute involving a box cutter landed a Caledonia man in jail Friday.

Derron Koonce, 20, was charged Friday in Racine County Circuit Court with misdemeanor disorderly conduct with a dangerous weapon and felony aggravated battery with a dangerous weapon. If convicted, he faces up to six year, three months in jail and/or up to $11,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint, Caledonia police were called to a home in the 400 block of 3-Mile Road for a report of a stolen vehicle. When officers arrived, Koonce told them his boyfriend had taken his car.

Police questioned that man who did admit to taking the car but said he only did it because he thought Koonce was going to kill him. Officers say the man said the couple had gotten into a fight and during the course of the argument, Koonce cut the man several times with a box cutter.

Officers did observe wounds on the man, none of them serious or life-threatening.

During his initial appearance Friday, Koonce was assigned a $750 cash bond with the condition that he not have any contact with the alleged victim, online court records read.

His next court date is a preliminary hearing on Aug. 7. Koonce remains in the Racine County Jail.
