Police to have Extral Patrols Out on St. Patrick's Day

Department receives grant for drunk driving and speeding enforcement initiative.

Caledonia will have several more police officers out on the road on St. Patrick's Day.

John Barnes, assistant police chief, said the department has extra funding through a state grant and they will be using that money to put more officers on the road to catch speeders and drunk drivers.

"This is part of a traffic safety inititive," Barnes said.

The Department also plans to have another safety initiative on March 17. So, bottomline... drivers need to slow down and have a designated sober driver if they plan to be out drinking.
