Raymond Fire Puts Out Large Brush Fire

Firefighters with the Raymond Fire Department battled a large brush fire between 50th Road and Golf Road along Interstate 94 that started at about 5:30 p.m., according to a report by WISN 12.

Karl Freitag, an employee at Racine Truck Sales which is located at 2808 N. Sylvania Ave. Franksville, said the fire is out now, but fire personnel were still out at the scene.

“It started about a ¼ mile away and came within 300 yards of us,” Freitag said. “It was within about 50 to 100 yards away from one of the Thermo King trucks.”

Freitag said the west Frontage Road between Highway C and K was closed, but he wasn’t sure if it was still closed.

“If my mechanic, who was out on a test ride, isn’t back in about 10 minutes, I’ll know the roads are still closed,” he said. “We’re lucky that it was a wide open field with no houses around.”
