So a Woman Walks into a Bar...

A Hartford woman walks into a restaurant bar after closing, chugs an old drink, leaves and is later arrested by police before driving drunk, police say.

A 39-year-old Hartford woman is accused of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct after her husband alerted police that she was going to drive drunk following an incident at a Saukville restaurant that had employees calling police.

Keena L. Roeber was charged in Ozaukee County Circuit Court Thursday with one count of resisting an officer and one count of disorderly conduct. If convicted, she faces up to one year in prison and $11,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

On Sept. 18, Saukville police officers were called to LaChimenea, 150 Foster Drive, after an employee reported that Roeber, who had eaten dinner at the restaurant earlier with her family, returned after closing and demanded service. The restaurant staff said she re-entered the restaurant through an employee entrance and went to the bar and ordered a drink. After they refused to serve her and told her to leave, Roeber grabbed an old drink off the bar, drank it and left.

While officers were looking for Roeber, they were flagged down by her husband at a nearby Super 8 Motel. He told the officer his wife was “hammered” and about to drive their vehicle.

Roeber was confronted by the officer but after getting out of the vehicle, she ran into the motel. She was eventually caught by another officer on the stairway. Roeber resisted arrest and dragged her feet while the officers took her to a squad car.

Are we so pressed for crime that recycled police blotter tales from September are newsworthy?

Hi jewelsds06, Charges on this case weren't filed until last week. It may have been a police blotter item before that but more information usually comes to light once charges are filed. Thanks, Amy Gilgenbach, guest editor
