Online Relationship Ends on a Thousand Bad Notes

Man meets his oh-so-very married girlfriend online, he breaks up with her and then the texts started coming to his inbox.

A Caledonia man received about 1,000 text messages when his ex-girlfriend signed him up for numerous promotional offers just after he ended the relationship.

The texts thanked the man for signing up for the promotional offers, which the man never signed up for, prompting the man to contact the Caledonia Police Department at 2 p.m. Feb. 17, 2012.

After being together for six months, the 40-year-old man broke up with his girlfriend, whom he met on Match.com. The woman told him she was single, but he found out she was married. The Caledonia man spoke to the woman’s husband, and then started getting the unprompted text messages.

The man’s ex-girlfriend was allegedly responsible for the texts. She also hijacked his Facebook account and threatened to call his employer. The man contacted the woman’s husband, who told him to call the police and file a report. Officers told him to file a temporary restraining order against the woman.

No citations were issued, but a police officer called the woman and told her not to contact the man anymore. The woman told the police the man “contacted her kids after they broke up.”
