Woman Chased By Coyote Calls Cops for Help

A woman told police she was being chased by a coyote, in one of several recent critter calls to police involving coyotes, raccoons, mice and even dead birds.

A woman called Brookfield police for help Sunday night, saying she was chased by a coyote near an office park and was afraid to walk home, reports say.

The woman, 43, told officers there was an ongoing problem with a coyote roaming around the area of North Corporate Drive and West Bluemound Road. She was near Carrabba's Italian Grill, 18365 W. Bluemound Rd., when she dialed police.

By the end of the call, she decided to walk home but wanted police to know about the animal problem.

In another call about coyotes, a Coach House Drive resident told police Sept. 17 she was worried a coyote wandering in her neighborhood might kill her dogs.

The Elmbrook Humane Society told her there wasn't too much they could do about coyotes and asked her to keep a close eye on her pets when they are outside.

In other animal-related police calls:

  • A dead bird found about noon Monday in a parking lot at Calvary Lutheran Church prompted a call of concern about West Nile Virus, particularly since one crow found in the Town of Brookfield was carrying West Nile. Authorities came and properly disposed of the bird they said had an "unknown cause of death."
  • Officers got a call at 3:30 a.m. Sept. 18 from a homeowner in the 15600 block of Fieldbrook Drive, saying she had heard noises by her back window for the past 20 minutes. Patrol officers found field mice running along that wall and chased them into a hole.
  • Animal control officers were called about 8:40 p.m. Saturday when a homeowner in the 2100 block of Carrington Drive found under her deck a raccoon with its head stuck in a jar.
  • The Elmbrook Humane Society was again called about 5 p.m. Sunday when a dead duck was found the backyard of a home in the 3600 block of Crestview Circle.
