Woman Found Dead in Caledonia Motel Room

The woman had just been released from jail in October.

A woman was found dead at 12:32 p.m. Monday, March 28 at the Country Inn Motel, 5828 Douglas Avenue, but police don’t suspect foul play.

According to a report by the Caledonia Police Department, Cynthia Montalbano was found sitting in a chair dressed in a hospital gown in her rented motel room.

Caledonia Fire officials told police they took Montalbano to the hospital on Sunday because she had trouble breathing at 10:30 a.m. and police learned she was released at 3:30 p.m. Montalbano had been living at the motel since October. Previously, she had been incarcerated at the Racine Correctional Institution. The Medical Examiner’s office said they would run a toxicology report because several prescription bottles were found near her.
