Woman Has Box Cutter While Stealing, Police Say

A Racine woman is accused of stealing baby formula from Pick 'n Save.

A 17-year-old Racine woman is accused of carrying a box cutter while stealing baby formula from Pick ‘n Save.

Brittany J. Johnson was charged in Racine County Circuit Court Wednesday with one count of retail theft, one count of disorderly conduct and one count of carrying a concealed weapon. If convicted, she faces up to 21 months in prison and $21,000 in fines.

On Dec. 28, Caledonia police officers were called to Pick ‘n Save after Johnson was confronted about stealing baby formula, then became combative with store staff after they asked her to go to the store security office. Johnson was searched and an officer found a box cutter in Johnson’s purse, which she said she carries “for protection.”

Johnson made her initial appearance in court Wednesday and a hearing has been set for Feb. 25.
