Woman Says Heart Problem Caused Crash

After crashing into a guardrail, a woman tells a Caledonia Police officer that she was suffering from a heart condition, but rescue personnel told police that she wasn't.

A 24-year-old Mount Pleasant woman was cited after the car she was driving struck a guardrail on Douglas Avenue at Holy Cross Road at 4:32 a.m. Sunday.

According to a report by the the woman was driving south on Douglas Avenue when she lost control of her car. She told the police the crash happend because she had chest pains.

But when an officer asked if she was taking medication for the condition, she told him no. Rescue personnel assessed the woman, but they told police that she wasn’t suffering from any heart problems.

Police issued the woman a citation for driving too fast for conditions.
