A Look Inside Caledonia's Village Hall

With a leaky roof, water dripping down the walls, air purifiers throughout the building keeping down the mold, insufficient work space and not being handicap accessible -- has the Village Hall outlived its purpose?

Discussion has been brewing on whether the Village should repair the Village Hall or build a new one.

The building was constructed in 1953 when the Village was a Town.

Dobbs agreed with Janiuk, but still believed the carpet and roof needed to be replaced.

Staff told the committee that since 1993, they’ve been dealing with leaks in the roof and during the last rain there were “10-12 leaks in the engineering and building departments,” the roof over the highway department “wouldn’t last one more season,” and the electrical system in the building “is a nightmare.”

Janiuk says he understands that the village's finances are tight, but he had to raise the question.
