Caledonia Residents Lose Bid to Opt Out of Utility District

But Village Board vows to take up issue for the second time.

Residents angered over being billed for water and sewer services found little relief Tuesday night at the Caledonia Utility District meeting.

The Utility District voted to keep residents from the Old Field Settlement subdivision, Bell Road and Highway V area in the district. However, some members of the Village Board told the residents they'd consider several options.

The group made the argument to the board last month that they will never use the service because they are on mound and well systems, and not hooked up the village's water and sewer system. Residents were charged between $400 and $700 for the service on their tax bills.
