Let The Counting Begin: 1.9 Million Recall Signatures Turned In To GAB

After two months of collecting 1.9 million signatures to trigger recall elections for the Governor, Lt. Governor, and other legislators, state Democrats say they are pleased with their work in collecting the signatures.

The Government Accountability Board is now tasked with verifying the estimated 1.9 million signatures collected in the recall efforts.

So because of these "teachers Unions" I should also be penalized?? I work for the City of Milwaukee where my Union pushed and recommended back in 2009 , a contract in which we took a VOLUNTARY wage freeze for two years to help the City with it's finances in this recession. Really sounds like the "Union Thugs" all the repubs keep referring to, huh? The negotiations with the Unions made the City run much smoother. As for wanting "more" I have been in the City for 16 years and aside from the fire and police, we (public workers) really don't make as much as you think we do. Fire have, if I'm not mistaken already accepted a 4% raise for this year and the police have rejected a 5% raise as not enough. (The highest raise I EVER got was a 3%) Most of us, regardless of the political spins of walker and his co-horts would have you think, are extremely dedicated to our jobs and in making this a better place to live.

"Koch money" is a pittance compared to union big labor.
Look at the top 20 donors from 1989-2012. Almost all union and to Democrats. Koch industries came in at #78! http://www.opensecrets.org/orgs/list.php?order=A

Who will the democrats choose to run for governor?
skinnyDUDE January 18, 2012 at 05:18 pm
The democrats wont choose Micheal . The unions will choose and the supporters need to fall in place. Theyre Leadership is the Union. Whatever Puppet gets the nod will do what he is told and so will the rank and file . The choice is simple in the end - WALKER wins yet again!

ha ha. Walker was selected as gov of the year by a so-called internet "journal" that a Republican started up about a year ago (non-peer reviewed to top it off)! . What a joke! ........................ Debra Dallaz 10:09 pm on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 govenor of the year. and next year. he will hammer unions then

@Heather -- I went to look for the YouTube video of Mike Ellis chewing gum while he cut off Fred Risser's microphone and told him to shut up during comments on the Voter ID bill. I read a list of reasonable amendments to that bill that were summarily voted down. That was before the summer recalls, when the GOP dominated legislature felt comfortable doing things like that.
That video made me ill. It's been removed from YouTube for copyright reasons and I can't locate it on the site that owns the copyright. (If anyone can, I'd be obliged for the link.) This isn't JUST about the budget. It's about a partisan social agenda that will be rammed through if we don't manage to curtail it somehow.
Heather Rayne Geyer January 18, 2012 at 06:27 pm
Randy - so true. This is from Cory Mason TODAY:
This morning I watched the GOP reject almost all of the work of the Legislative Council study committee to reduce infant mortality I served on last year. Leg Council Cmtes have historically passed unanimously. I am stunned. To be clear: the vote today was on whether to let the work of the committee should be introduced for consideration in the Legislature. I couldn't even get bipartisanship on babies dying, sans Sen Schultz. ******************************** These are the things I have been seeing on WisEye and hearing from legislators in the past year. Now they are working on wetlands deregulation. THESE are the things so many of us are pissed about. IT IS NOT EVEN ABOUT UNIONS ANYMORE.
Dirk January 18, 2012 at 06:43 pm
It will be amusing to see the peanut gallery the unioncrats will march out for this silly election, if it even gets that far. Perhaps the teenager mayoral candidate from Sheboygan will join this middle-class tax-payer financed witch hunt. He's probably more qualified than most of the Kool-Aid drinking candidates anyway.
James R Hoffa January 18, 2012 at 08:32 pm
Screw counting the signatures, bring on the election as quickly as possible! The Dems won't have time to vet a viable candidate or bus people in from out-of-state to vote in the election as they've planned.
Walker to victory once again! And once these futile recalls are over with, changes to the recall process must be enacted otherwise Wisconsin will become a state of never-ending elections and campaigning.
James R Hoffa January 18, 2012 at 08:33 pm
BTW -
I'd like to personally invite everyone to come check out the second install of Hoffa's Retro Cinema Club, featuring a filmmaker spotlight on B-movie veteran Charles Band and a look at his film 'Meridian: Kiss of the Beast' (1990). "We can do NOTHING about the past "
You're sick of hearing about Doyle because of the huge mess he left. The thing we can do is let Walker keep cleaning up that mess and put a halt on socialism.
Dad 4 life January 18, 2012 at 10:02 pm
Steve well said. Rally for Walker people. Keep cleaning house Gov Walker. The dumby-crats don't stand a chance.

Can you people ever post without name calling? My kids don't even talk like that as often as some of you do. You should be embarrassed. I am embarrassed for you. And honestly, it really makes you lose credibility. I am unchecking the updates thing because I don't even want this crap in my inbox anymore.
skinnyDUDE January 18, 2012 at 11:12 pm
This recall is alot like the Occupy wallstreet crowd. Most are not even sure why they are there. Anger and confusion is a dangereous mix .
But good news as I agree with the Unions today. As Today, President Obama the democratic king killed a 7 billion dollar pipeline that the unions support. It literally destroys tens of thousands of good paying american jobs. Where do I SIGN........Lets recall him too.

Keith - Loosing or losing?
skinnyDUDE January 19, 2012 at 01:09 am
Heather we all know you have drank the liberal kool aid . You want to take the State back right? That is the union talking point. Back to the Doyle days?Back to what?
If you dont have reform agenda the state cant move forward and if all you have is a desire to go back to failure what is the point?? Its easy to complain . But the fact that you openly accept that doyle didnt matter to you and Walker must be stopped says it all. You are clueless, cause Doyle was a complete failure and you want to go back! If you bring an empty sack of ideas that lack fiscal reponsibility . Than you are part of the problem . So now you can go back and put your head in the sand. Going back is a losing hand for the state of Wisconsin. Thats why so many our fighting to Move forward!

Dont be a ignorant. You spent 7 billion dollars of non govenrment money and it will create alot of jobs. And its not tax payer money . Its private investment. The pipeline also help are national security and energy independance. If this doesnt go through we lose jobs, energy , national secutity and Canada will sell it to China . Do you really want to keep paying arabs for oil ? I dont! So try to find a grain of common sense and admit Obama is a complete fool on jobs and the economy. That isnt even up fr debate .....its a known FACT!
Lyle Ruble January 19, 2012 at 09:40 pm
@skinnyDUDE...Besides needing to take a basic language arts English course, you need to do some independent research on the subject. Your statement concerning energy security and independence is just plain wrong. Obviously you don't know much about the routing of the phase four pipeline.

What an abuse of the system. Enough on the recalls already! I didn't like our previous governor, but I wouldn't have supported a recall. We have an electoral process. Every four years we vote, then we give them a chance to implement their vision. Walker has balanced the budget. He's trying to live with fiscal realities. That I support. But even if I didn't, I would not support a recall. MANY OF US ON ALL SIDES OF THE ISSUE ARE SICK TO DEATH OF RECALLS!! I urge those of you in our community not to support the recall of any more officials, Republican or Democrat.
Keith Schmitz January 19, 2012 at 11:55 pm
Don't worry MC. Once we cleanse the state of vulture capitalist tools you won't have t worry about recalls.
Recalls are part of the system in Wisconsin. Walker balanced the budget? How nice. All governors legally have to do the budget. Hey don't blame us for this. Wisconsin voters didn't put him in to push a hard right agenda. He overreached, and some politicians do. People believe sincerely that Walker is sending us radically in a wrong direction. Don't you think we have our right to stop this? On top of that, very few of us are union members, especially here in the north shore so sorry for yanking one of your pleasing labels.
Keith Schmitz January 20, 2012 at 12:01 am
Congratulations to all of you in the north shore who came out to commit a flagrant act of democracy. Your efforts to get active and round up 22,000 signatures showed that this is the way to eventually break Citizen's United, based on your energy and your money.
You dispelled the notion that people aren't interested in politics or that we can be rolled by vulture corporate interests. You proved you can help bring back Wisconsin values.

WI also has a Constitution saying we have RECALLS. And Walker certified to the FEDS that he did NOT balance the budget! http://thewheelerreport.com/releases/January12/0118/0118richards.pdf WE have seen Walker's "vision" inspired by ALEC!! Zelda January 23, 2012 at 11:50 pm
Walker "abused" the system to get himself elected using the recall method. What's the problem now? You can't have it both ways. Hundreds of thousands of people thought that what Walker did was wrong. The amount of the people protesting was historical. You just want everyone to ignore what he did and let him go on his merry way? Say there was a Democratic governor, senate and assembly and they decided to outlaw hunting guns and wrote and passed legislation two weeks into getting elected. I would expect that the electorate would be a little miffed. Don't you? In this case, Walker and the Republicans pushed through legislation that angered hundreds of thousands of people. Republicans in Indiana (the "lunch pail" Republicans) are angry at Gov. Daniels for doing the same thing and they are standing up for workers' rights. This is a monumental issue and one that can't be taken for granted and one of great concern not just to public union workers but all workers. The Republicans are attacking workers' rights at every level. It must be stopped. Allowing them to "implement their vision" has already kicked thousands of children off Badgercare, suppressed the vote, taken away worker's rights and there is legislation proposed to take away birth control for women and pollute the environment. Heck, even the Green Bay Packers are in agreement with the protesters. Walker and his minions abused the system and a million of us are trying to correct it.

Hi Anthony, The proposed WalMart site is on the southeast corner of 4 Mile and North Green BayRead More Road, just south of the Mosquito Inn.

There are not too many areas that can be easily accessed by the main roads. If a corner parcel wasRead More bought somewhere (perhaps Hwy 31 & Six mile) not a suggestion nor is it large enough. There would still be complaints. Who there be as much complaining if the Industrial building expanded onto the same parcel of land?
