Racine County Republicans Begin Scrutinizing Recall Signatures

Racine County Democrats turned in thousands of signatures in the hopes of triggering a recall election for Sen. Van Wanggaard. Now, Republican volunteers take up the task of verifying them.

Volunteers at the Racine County Republican headquarters in Mount Pleasant have been inspecting the 24,000 recall signatures, which were turned in to the Government Accountability Board last week.

The signatures, which were turned in by the Committee to Recall Van Wanggaard, were collected to trigger a recall election for the freshman Senator. Democrats need to have 15,353 signatures to accomplish their goal.

About 20 volunteers have been checking the dates, reviewing addresses, and looking for missing information that would invalidate the signatures.
