Some Village Board Members Voice Opposition To Highway 38 Project

State official says the $125 million project would require some Legislative action to stop.

A highway project that would re-route Highway 38 through a number of properties received a cool reception from some Village Board members, according to a story by the Racine Journal Times.

Department of Transportation Secretary Mark Gottlieb met with Village Board members at a meting held Monday. Village Board members said they didn't want the project if it meant that they had to re-route the road. In past meetings, they had expressed the concern that it would cut through a number of farms.

However, the board members asked if the dollars could be used to expand highways 31 and 31 between Four and Six Mile Road.
