Plan Commission Approves Soccer Field Project

Village would be home to two soccer clubs.

UPDATE Sept. 28: The Plan Commission gave a thumbs up on the project, which will now go in front of the Village Board for a final approval.

ORIGINAL STORY: The Plan Commission discussed a concept plan for a six-field soccer complex, which was presented at their meeting Wednesday, August 31.

Members of the Plan Commission voted 4 to 0 to accept the concept plan, which still requires a public hearing and approval from the before the project can begin.

Oscar Toscano, president of Ace Soccer Club, told Plan Commission members that he wants to build the fields on the corner of Adams Road and County Highway H.

The initial phase includes building the fields, a detention pond, a concession stand and parking area. He’ll also add bathrooms later within four to five seasons Until then, he’ll likely have portable bathrooms on the site.

Toscano said the club eventually plans to host tournaments. And he expects players to come from Milwaukee and northern Illinois.

A public hearing will be held Tuesday, Sept. 6, but it still requires approval from the Village Board. That vote is expected to happen on Sept. 28.
