JB’s on 41, a bowling center that offers a complete entertainment experience for bowlers of all experiences and ages, will host its Strikes for Tikes Grand Opening Celebration weekend Thursday, Nov. 29 through Saturday, Dec. 1, to showcase its nearly eight-month facelift after taking over the former Olympic Lanes, 4040 S. 27th St.
“We can’t wait to show of all Milwaukee just what a special environment we’ve created for families and bowling fans alike with our renovations, said David Bardon, owner of JB’s on 41.
Greenfield Patch caught up with Bardon for a Q&A about the new bowling experience and JB’s on 41’s grand opening weekend:
Greenfield Patch: Tell us a little bit about your background.
DB: I have been in the bowling business since 1993, when I purchased my first center. Since then I have been involved in the operation of six but now only own four centers: two in Sheboygan County and one in Appleton besides JB’s on 41. I live in Elkhart Lake and have lived in Southeastern Wisconsin my entire life.
Patch: When did you convert Olympic Lanes into JB's on 41, and what were some of the renovations that took place inside/outside the building?
DB: We have been working on this project for quite some time but only really began construction in late April. The bowling experience is quite different now with couches in the seating area, new automatic scoring, light and sound show (Galactic Bowling) over the lanes. Lanes 1-10 are now Suite 41, a private upscale bowling experience with large video screens over the lanes. We have added a full-scale kitchen and remodeled the lounge area. Thirty-five new games were added to our game room.
Patch: What has the response been like since the change over?
DB: So far the response has been great. Everyone that has come in is very impressed with what we have done.
Patch: While making the transition, what has been your top priority?
DB: Our top priority was to differentiate ourselves from the other entertainment options available in the Milwaukee area. That meant an upscale bowling and game environment for families that serve great food. Secondarily we wanted to provide a party/event venue for their employees.
Patch: What are you looking forward to the most when it comes to the grand opening weekend?
DB: I am hoping that we are very busy with everyone having a great time. I hope that we leave such a good impression on people that they will want to come back again and again.
