Land Use Work Group To Continue Discussion On Walmart Property

The land use work group will be meeting to discuss the Metra area.

The former Village Center-Metra area at 4-Mile and Green Bay Roads will be discussed, and a recommendation to the planning commission maybe be decided at a meeting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

Land use plan workgroup and village Plan Commission members will discuss options for the at the East Side Community Center, 6156 Douglas Ave.

The workgroup refers to the group of people—residents, business representatives and past and present public officials and Plan Commission members—addressing Walmart's request for land to be rezoned and for the big box retailer's applications for an amendment to the land use plan.

Walmart wants to build an 182,000 square foot supercenter at the southeast corner of 4 Mile and Green Bay roads. They are asking the village to address differences between what is designated in the land use designates and the zoning that exists on the parcel.
