As the union imposed exile of 14 Wisconsin State Senators enters its fourth week, it’s time to ask the most fundamental question: what compromise are they seeking and what is their solution to the Doyle driven budget mess? Maybe that is a better question to ask Richard Trumpka, or the Democratic National Committee.
Recently the Journal Sentinel obtained emails from Governor Scott Walker to the Democrat Senators, as recently as today, offered a compromise allowing unions collective bargaining on wages with no limits. That is a major reversal from the original proposal, and was the main theme of the boots on the ground (public employees) at the rallies in Madison. So what is this really about?
It must be about the give-backs on pension and health insurance, right? Well, that can’t be because all we’ve heard from the union leadership and the boots on the ground is that they could agree to those.

Is it collective bargaining rights in general? No, that can’t be because the only thing that could not be collectively bargained is the pension and health insurance contributions. Wages, working conditions and grievances all remain intact with the Walker-offered compromise.
You may ask, “What is left?” Well, now we’re getting somewhere. The answer to the reason the 14 Democratic Senators are union-exiled in Illinois is… the unions will not accept the idea that public workers would have the right to opt out of their respective unions. That’s right; it all comes down to that. Oh, and lest we forget the Senate Minority leader Mark Miller’s sneaky little tactic to take care of the Madison union’s ability to hold on to their free pensions and health insurance.

While up at the capital, I read signs stating, “this is what democracy looks like” from many a union member. Really? This is what democracy looks like? Forcing workers to join a union and pay dues for the right to employment is democracy? It looks more Marxist than democracy. Let us again not forget that a large portion of those dues go directly to Democratic candidates and the DNC.
Truth be told, the cowards on the other side of the border have no ideas to deal with the budget and are bought and paid for by the unions and the DNC with sole purpose of disrupting democracy. That looks more like collusion and bribery to me and I’d love to see warrants out for that rather than just because they’re not showing up to do their job.
I ask any one of these runaway Dems to tell us what your ideas to fix the budget mess are. Please, just one idea. Anyone? (enter crickets) Just what I thought; you have nothing.
