North Park Students Have a Hoppin' Good Time

Hundreds of Caledonia children attend the Spring Fling at North Park Elementary.

Bad weather couldn't keep the children and parents away from the North Park Elementary School “Spring Fling.” Hundreds of folks, big and little,  filled the gymnasium at North Park for this Parent Teachers Association's annual fundraiser.

Tickets were sold at the door at 25¢ a piece and these allowed participants to enjoy a number of activities, depending on how many tickets per event they wished  to forfeit. Face Painting by Melissa Schroeder, seemed to be the most popular activity but there were lines long lines at most of events especially the food counter where Pizza and chips were going quickly. Cookie decorating, mosaic flowers, gift raffles, “Bozo's” bucket game and the stringing of candy jewelry were just a few more of the fun things to do.

Parent Teacher Association Treasurer and North Park employee Kathy Meredith said the Spring Fling event has consistently been a good fundraiser for the organization and the parents at this school are wonderful about supporting these events. Many of the game coordinators were parents who may not have been PTA members, but volunteered their time for the benefit of the school.

A special appearance was made by the Easter Bunny! He handed out candy and greeted the children. Although not a special appearance, the arrival of North Park principal Mark Zanin brought many smiles to the faces of children in attendance.
