Several Case, Horlick And Park Swimmers Headed To State Competition

Their hard work paid off and now several boys on the Horlick, Case, and Park high school swim teams will be in the state competition Saturday.

The Racine Unified School District will be well represented at the WIAA Boys State Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday.

The Case High School boys swim team placed 2nd and Park High School placed 7th in the sectional meet held Saturday at Greenfield High School.

The Case team earned 305 points, Park High School received a score of 199 and Horlick High School placed in 11th place with a score of 86. The Greenfield/Greendale team placed first with 336.5.

Several members will now head to the state competition on Saturday.

Park High School senior Andrew Suchla won the diving event after he earned 609.20. Horlick High School junior Mike Modesti placed sixth in the diving event at the sectional meet, but received a score of 342.6. Both will head to the state competition.

Sophomore Charles Julius and seniors James Weslaski, Jarred Glaser and John Freidheim placed second and qualified to go to state in the 200-yard medley relay after qualifying with a time of 1:41.03 and the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:18.68.

Glaser also placed first in the 200-yard freestyle event with a time of 1:47.18 and the 100-yard freestyle event with a time of 48.78. Weslaski placed third in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:59.05 and first in the 500-yard freestyle event with a time of 4:48.80. Freidheim placed second in the 100-yard backstroke event with a time of 55.49 seconds.

The WIAA Division 1 State Meet is Saturday in Madison. The State Meet is on Saturday at the University of Wisconsin Natatorium.
