Explore how to approach inversions and arm balances (such as shoulder stand, handstand, crow and more) with patience, compassion, community support and a good sense of humor. These poses can seem challenging (and even intimidating), but they are also exciting and empowering.   These poses are an important part of practice, allowing the mind and body to rejuvenate.  Inversions can help increase circulation of blood, oxygen, and energy, stimulating the endocrine and immune systems.  Practicing both inversions and arm balances can help develop not only physical strength, but mental strength, balance and flexibility.   Sometimes simply going upside down in the physical form can allow us to see things from a different perspective psychologically.

Props, the wall, and instructor support will be offered to make these poses accessible when necessary.  Core strength building will be emphasized.  It is a beautiful thing to challenge yourself in your practice.  However, not all poses are accessible to all students.  Your ability and wisdom of your own body will be respected.  Contraindications will be discussed and modifications offered.  Inversions are not recommended if you have high blood pressure, glaucoma, or are pregnant.  Some yoga experience necessary.

This workshop is co-led by Registered Yoga Instructors Karla Johnston-Krase and Jessika Mikol. If you have any questions or seek more information about this workshop, contact YogaRootsRacine at yogarootsracine@gmail.com or 262/598-6610.
