Park Grad DeQuan Hicks in NCAA Basketball Tournament with Northwestern State

DeQuan Hicks is the leading scorer for Northwestern State as it enters March Madness. Wisconsin and Marquette also got their assignments for the Big Dance.

Racine Park graduate DeQuan Hicks is a member of the Northwestern State team that plays Friday in the first round of the 2013 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.

Northwestern State of Natchitoches, LA is a No. 14 seed in the South region and meets No. 3 seed Florida at 6:27 p.m. Friday. The game will be shown on truTV.

Hicks, a transfer from New Mexico Junior College, is the Southland Conference Newcomer of the Year and a second-team All-Southland Conference player. The 6-foot-7 forward lead the team with 14.1 points per game and is second with 5.8 rebounds. Hicks also made a steal in the last 5 seconds of the Southland Conference championship game to earn the bid for Northwestern State.
