United Way of Racine County hires new president

After a comprehensive search process, United Way of Racine County is pleased to announce the recent hire of Rodney Prunty as the president of the organization beginning August 1, 2013.

After a comprehensive search process, United Way of Racine County is pleased to announce the recent hire of Rodney Prunty as the president of the organization beginning August 1, 2013. Prunty will replace current president, Dave Maurer. With more than 30 years of experience with United Way and 23 years at United Way of Racine County, Maurer will serve as past president to support Prunty’s transition through his previously announced retirement date of June 30, 2014.

As president, Prunty will be responsible for the implementation of strategic goals and objectives, fundraising, community leadership, program strategy and development, and organizational management. He will be integral in providing direction and leadership in development and implementation of programs and initiatives to promote the mission and philosophy of United Way of Racine County. Paul Rohling, chair of United Way of Racine County board stated, “We are very impressed with Rodney’s experience and insight into what is needed to improve people’s lives and create lasting community change.We look forward to Rodney’s leadership to meet Racine County’s community needs.”

Prunty comes to United Way of Racine County with over 25 years of experience in the nonprofit sector. He entered the United Way system as a resource development manager at United Way of Rock River Valley where he was responsible for fundraising strategies and donor cultivation for a $4.5 million dollar annual campaign. In 2010, Prunty became vice president for United Way of Rock River Valley. In this role, he oversaw an array of activities for the organization including human resources, organizational budgets, volunteer recruitment, community partnerships, community initiatives, campaign, and grants. Prunty was previously the director of supportive services for Rockford MELD, which offers emergency shelter and housing, parenting information, life and job skills training, and prevention education. Prunty stated, “I am honored to be selected as United Way of Racine County’s next president and working with Dave and the team of volunteers and professionals that have made their United Way one of the strongest in the country. I look forward to meeting the people of Racine and furthering the work of United Way as a leader in positive community change.”
