Drive-Thru, Not Car Hop at New A&W

An era will come to an end when the new A&W building opens later this fall.

An era will come to end this fall when the new A&W opens with a drive thru instead of its car hop service. A&W is relocating from the west side of I-94 to a spot on Northwestern Avenue just east of the expressway, next to the Pilot station. "I know people will miss it, but society seems to like going through a drive-thru or coming inside to eat," he said. "So, we had to choose based on A&W's corporate guidelines." A&W Moves Forward, New Park Fees Approved

Trustees voted on a number of issues Monday that help move the A&W project forward and approved new fees for renting spaces at village parks.

The CSM was also contigent of the Village Board approving  - which they did - a Memorandum of Understanding between the Welch's, …

A&W Restaurant To Present New Building Plans

The third-generation owners of the A&W Restaurant in the Town of Raymond want to move their business to Caledonia because of construction on I-94.

A&W Restaurant, 3751 South 27th St., wants to relocate to Caledonia because of the new interchange being built at Highway K and Interstate 94. They'll be presenting their concept plans to the the village plan commission at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the East Side Community Center, 6156 Douglas Ave. The restaurant makes their own root beer and is one of the oldest drive-in restaurants in the area. Sharon and Frank Welch, who have owned the business since 1974, expect to start building the new restaurant in the spring. The new building will be located just to the east of the Pilot gas station on the north side of Highway K and the old building will be razed. A new road will also divide the Pilot and newly built restaurant, which the DOT will pay up…
