The child porn case against Alexander Richter continues to move forward in Racine County Circuit Court. He had a status conference Monday, and his lawyer said the defense continues to conduct an investigation. Richter's next court date is May 20.

Alexander Richter could spend the rest of his life in prison if convicted of making child pornography in his Jacato Drive apartment. He was a student at Gateway Techincal College when he offered to babysit the children of his fellow students. But police say he wasn't caring for the children — he was abusing them. Police have named six victims, and say Richter took sexually explicit photographs of the children and made video recordings of him abusing them. The mother of two of the children contacted authorities when they began exhibiting sexually inappropriate behavior at home. A 28-year-old Racine man accused of multiple child sex crimes pleaded not guilty to 49 felony counts this morning in a Racine County courtroom. Alex Richter wore a bulletproof apron from his shoulders to his ankles when he waived his preliminary hearing and pleaded not guilty to both cases against him. Between the two cases, a total of 49 felony counts of child sex assault, child pornography and exploitation of children/filming have been levied against Richter. So far, six children have been named victims in the cases. A mother of one of the victims was in court and was visibly shaking as she exited the courtroom after Richter entered his plea. After Alexander Richter, 28, of Racine, was charged with 26 felony counts of sexual assault of a child, exploitation of a child/filming and child pornography, additional victims have been identified. Richter was charged Thursday in Racine County Circuit Court with 23 new felony counts including seven counts of first degree sexual assault of a child under the age of 12; eight counts of sexual exploitation of a child/filming, and eight counts of child pornography. If convicted of these new charges, he faces 625 years in prison on top of the 560 years he faces from the 26 original charges. The combined total possible prison time from the two cases is 1,185.
