The free annual event gets families playing together.
The Racine Family YMCA invites all area families to visit today from 1 to 4 pm for the free annual Healthy Kids Day event. Parents and kids will have a chance to play some family games, splash around during pool games, and tumble around during gymnastics. Kids can also get a taste of summer day camp and everyone can partitipate in the mini-health fair. As an opposing coach, you never know who to key in on when going into a game against Pius XI. The Lady Popes seem to like assists just as much as points and that showed as five girls scored in double figures in their 70-61 win over Racine Case in the WIAA State Tournament Super Tuesday game at Wisconsin Lutheran College. “Our leading scorer averages 12 and the next person is 10,” Pius head coach Scott Herrick said. “It’s been a different person every game. That’s one thing about this team; they are so unselfish. Top-seeded Racine Case gets better of Knights in sectional final.
Racine Case's full-court pressure wreaked havoc on Oak Creek's offense all game. The physical and aggressive style of play forced the Knights to play at an uncomfortable pace, which kept them out of their half-court offense. On Saturday afternoon, the Knights could not solve those problems and lost 46-35. Knights head coach Steve Hluchnik gambled in the first quarter by leaving senior point guard Cydney Weisflog in the game with two fouls. The move immediately backfired when Weisflog picked up an offensive foul, forcing her to the bench for the majority of the first half.
