Wells Bros. Serves Up Benefit Dinner for Long Time Employee

Friends and neighbors are invited to a spaghetti dinner to help a long-time Wells Bros. employee tackle his mounting medical bills.

Community stalwart Wells Brothers Pizza is hosting a spaghetti dinner for Larry Gaulke, a longtime employee with a growing pile of medical bills. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 25, diners can enjoy a plate of the restaurant's famous spaghetti (homemade sauce and meatballs!), salad with their signature homemade Italian dressing and their well-known bread (with butter, of course). "Larry has been a server in Racine for years, but he's been with us for over seven years," said co-owner Paula Wells Huck. She said Gaulke has had a couple of strokes and even suffered a heart attack. He is now home from the hospital recovering, Huck said his daughter reports. "He was told to lay low, but anyone who knows Larry, knows that is hard for him," she added…

Viewfinder: Brayden Fowlkes Benefit a Great Success

Good music, great prizes, and two former Green Bay Packers helped raise about $18,000 for a baby in need of intensive and extensive medical treatment.

What do you get when you combine live music, raffle baskets, more than 40 volunteers, two former Green Bay Packers, generous local businesses and a giving community? "It was phenomenal!" said Dan Cramer, one of the organizers for the Brayden Scott Fowlkes Benefit. "There had to have been 500 or 600 people coming in and out all night." According to Cramer, he estimated this morning, April 11, that about $18,000 was raised this weekend. That sum does not include donations made directly to the Brayden Scott Medical Fund at Tri-City National Bank. Brayden was born in January with a cleft lip, palate and larynx as well as two holes in his heart. He will need daily medical care and many hours of future surgery. Among the attendees were former …
