Curt Adel, ownder of Lee's Flowers, said they'll likely be moving in soon, but he didn't have an exact date. The building still needs to be inspected and Adel needs to buy new coolers. ORIGINAL STORY: A prominent Racine flower shop might be calling Caledonia home if the owner of the building receives the proper permits from the Village. Recall elections may be on the horizon for Sen. Van Wanggaard, Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch, and Gov. Scott Walker. Racine County Republicans stand ready to defend them as they open the Victory Center, 6211 Durand Ave. Suite 203.
About 100 volunteers attended the grand opening of the Racine County Republican Party office, called the Victory Center, on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012. Bill Folk, the chairman of the group, explained that volunteers and a few paid staff members would use the office to call like-minded individuals and remind them who Sen. Van Wanggaard is and that his job may be in jeopardy if the Democrats are successful in triggering a recall election. They would also use the space to pour over the petition signatures and question those that seemed fradulant or inaccurate. Wanggaard said he would need as many volunteers as he could get on short notice. He talked about the highlights of his first year as a state Senator and the need to continue on a positive …

Bill Folk, chairman of the Racine County Republican Party: “A lot of people are ready to stand shoulder to shoulder with these elected officials. They are ready to publically say, ‘We support you.’
Members of the County Republican Party are ramping up for potential recall elections for Gov. Scott Walker, Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch, and state Sen. Van Wanggaard (R-Racine). To support those candidates, members of the state Republican Party are opening the office earlier in the year than usual. The office will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday starting this month; it usually opens in late summer. The office will be run by volunteers and a few paid staff. “Because of the potential for three recall elections, it will be important for us to get information out there,” said Bill Folk, chairman of the Racine County Republican Party. “We are receiving calls almost daily from people who want yard signs, make phone …

Things got a little more than heated between unnamed Republican and former Caledonia cop.
UPDATE: Bill Folk issued the following statement, "I find Gallaher's comments outrageous. I know the person in question snapped a few photos, which I have seen and we know for a fact that the recallers took at least 4 photos. It is clear from the photos that the person is not in the parking lot...never entered the parking lot so how is it that he "ran through the parking lot" and "almost back(ed) over a retired police officer"...was the retired officer in the road way?!? "It's time for the recallers to stop fabricating facts about the pro-Walker movement and get on with trying trying to overturn the will of the people of Wisconsin." ORIGINAL STORY: Local efforts to gather enough signatures to trigger a recall of Gov. Scott Walker have …

Local Republicans may be frustrated sitting on the sidelines as Democrats get recall signatures to try to oust Gov. Scott Walker, but they've been looking to volunteer with Racine County Republican Party.
An official with the Racine County Republican Party said they’ve seen an outpouring support for their party after a story ran about a man, who claimed he collected petition signatures and considered destroying them. When the story ran, Bill Folk, chairman for the Racine County Republican Party, immediately denounced the man’s actions and said the man wasn’t acting under the direction of the party. Still, more people are volunteering to help keep Gov. Scott Walker in office, Folk said. The Democrats claim they have about 300,000 signatures and they need 540,000 signatures to trigger a recall election. “We’ve seen an outpouring of support (for keeping Walker in office) after that article, but we’ve also gotten some emails from those that …

I think it's a wonderful opportunity for Caledonia to bring in a proven successful business. Why is there a problem? The vacant buiding is just an eye sore as it stands now.   more ›
