Two teenagers hoped that an apology and return of the victim's property would suffice, but he is pressing charges and now they both face felonies.
An apology didn't do any good after two teens were allegedly caught stealing golf clubs from an open garage in Racine. Jordan Zimmerman, 18, of Mount Pleasant, and Kevin Flick, 17, of Caledonia, were charged Tuesday in Racine County Circuit Court with a single count each of felony burglary of a building or dwelling. If convicted, they each face up to 12-1/2 years in prison and/or up to $25,000 in fines. According to the criminal complaint: Zimmerman and Flick were driving around Monday afternoon after spending time at McDonald's and Johnson Park when they spotted an open garage of a home on N. Suspect caught Friday night after allegedly robbing North Shore Bank on North Main Street.
UPDATE: David Thomas, 33, of Kenosha, was charged with armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a felon, and two counts of obstruction by the Racine County District Attorney's Office Monday, Nov. 7. If conviced of all charges, Thomas faces up to 61 and a half years in prison and may face fines up to $145,000. According to the criminal complaint, Thomas was living in a boarding house in Kenosha and had walked from Kenosha to Racine. He had a 9 mm handgun with him and told detectives he had used cocaine prior to the robbery. "Thomas stated he walked by some apartments and saw the bank and thought to himself that he needed some money so he decided to rob the bank." Thomas is currently in police custody on a $62,500 bail. Charges are being sought against a 13-year-old girl, who allegedly shook her baby brother to get him to stop crying, at her home in the 7200 block of Cliffside Drive at 8:42 p.m. Monday, July 18. The girl also physically fought with her mom and stepdad. Police are recommending charges of disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property, and physical abuse to a child, according to a report by the Caledonia Police Department. No charges have been filed by the Racine County District Attorney's Office. The girl told police she shook her brother twice, using the force of a handshake, so he would stop crying. She got a disorderly conduct ticket in Caledonia.
A status hearing for a criminal case involving a circuit court judge accused of disorderly conduct has been rescheduled for July 11. Linda Van De Water, a judge for the Waukesha County Circuit Court, is facing criminal charges after she allegedly tracked down and jumped on her boyfriend’s car in Caledonia. Steven Kohn, Van De Water’s attorney, said he’s considering filing motions that would ask the Racine County District Attorney’s Office to recuse itself from the case and one that would dispute certain facts contained in the criminal complaint. “But those haven’t been filed, we’re still considering filing them at this point,” Kohn said.
