Racine Area Cheerleaders Tumble Their Way to Teamwork, Pick Up Ribbons at Camp

Cheerleaders from three Racine-area schools attended cheer camp last week to work on new routines, polish their tumbling and stabilize their stunts.

Cheer teams from Washington Park, William Horlick and Racine Lutheran came together last week at cheer camp to jump, stunt and tumble their way to being better cheerleaders and stronger teams. Along with a dozen other cheerleading squads from around the state, the Panthers, Rebels and Crusaders spent four days at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee for a Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) camp. While they were there, teams learned new routines, got advice on cheers, tumbling and stunts from the experts from UCA. On Saturday, all the teams came together for one last marathon day of performing with the hopes of nabbing some ribbons and trophies for their efforts. Whiz Kid: Liesl Korndoerfer Loves Cheering and her Team

The team has also earned their way to nationals.

Liesl Korndoerfer and her teammates on the Horlick High School cheerleading team are a tight knit group and they've qualified for nationals. Here's a little more information about her. Age: 14 School: Horlick High School Accomplishment: Qualifying for nationals for cheerleading Key to Awesomeness: Being on an amazing team. We are hard working and supportive of each other. As a team we have accomplished a lot. We practice 4 times a week and sometimes we go to competitions on the week end. We cheer for the Boys and Girls Basketball games on Tuesdays and Fridays. We are a close group and hang out with each other. We are like a family and care about each other. We also try to help out in the community and do positive things. We basically love …
