Long time Racine Attorney to challenge Mike Nieskes in the spring election for Circuit Court Judge.
According to The Racine Journal Times, Attorney Michael J. Piontek has announced his candidacy for Branch 5 Circuit Court Judge. Piontek, who has had a nearly 40-year law career in Racine, was one of four applicants for Judge Barry's replacement earlier this year. District Attorney, Mike Nieskes, was appointed by the Governor and will remain in that seat until he is challenged in the April election. Read more of the story HERE.
However, her lawyer said Linda Van De Water expects to plead not guilty.
A Waukesha County Circuit Court Judge, who faces a criminal charge, will remain on the bench and continue to hear family court cases. Circuit Court Judge Linda Van De Water, 48, of Brookfield, appeared today in a Racine County Court to enter a plea for a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge she faces. The Racine County District Attorney’s Office filed a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge against Van De Water earlier this month. Van De Water was elected as a judge in 2003. She ran for District II Court of Appeals in 2010 and lost.
