Police Pursuit, Crash Leads to Man's Fifth OWI Arrest

A 44-year-old Franksville resident was seen speeding on I-94 in Oak Creek and eventually crashed his car following a high-speed chase.

A driver speeding on Interstate 94 in Oak Creek crashed his vehicle after a police pursuit Sunday night and was arrested for his fifth drunken-driving offense. According to a Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office news release: A Milwaukee County sheriff's deputy saw a vehicle pass him at a high rate of speed on I-94 near W. Rawson Avenue just before 11 p.m. The deputy activated his lights and siren, but the driver, later identified as 44-year-old Brent Fruth, failed to stop. Oak Creek police and the Racine County Sheriff's Department were advised of the pursuit. Fruth exited at Highway G traveling about 90 mph. Due to safety concerns, the deputy stopped his pursuit. Man Charged With 5th OWI in Caledonia

Suspect runs a red light on Highway 38 Wednesday then cuts off another car in a roundabout.

A 55-year-old Racine man is facing felony drunk driving charges after he allegedly ran a red light in Caledonia Wednesday night. Thomas Santiago was charged in Racine County Circuit Court Thursday with one count of fifth offense operating while intoxicated. If convicted, he faces up to six years in prison and $10,000 in fines. According to the criminal complaint: At 9:56 p.m. Wednesday, a Caledonia police officer was on patrol when he spotted Santiago going westbound on Highway 38 and run a red light. The officer then began to follow Santiago and saw him cut off another car while going through a roundabout. The officer pulled Santiago over who smelled of alcohol and was fidgety. Mr. Santiago was picked up for OWI in '90, '95, '97, and '98. But not again until '12. Did they have interlocks for ignitions in '98? Did he get his driver's license back, ever, after that string of offenses? Do we have reason to believe that he got his act together then?
