Democratic Primary Likely to Be Decided on Style Points, Strategies

If voters are leaning more toward Barrett in Tuesday's recall election, it may be because Falk overplayed her hand as unions' champion, while Milwaukee mayor plays more to the middle.

A comparison of leading Democratic candidates Kathleen Falk and Tom Barrett going into Tuesday’s recall primary shows their differences are more about style and political strategy than substance on the issues. Both campaigns have hammered against Gov. Scott Walker’s cuts to public education and vowed to restore school spending. Both have focused on the need for job creation and derided Walker’s record on it. On public health matters, the economy and, yes, on collective bargaining for public workers, they are essentially on the same page over the long haul. Where Falk and Barrett differ is not as much in their ultimate policy aims, but in their approaches. Falk entered the race in mid-January, almost the instant the deadline for turning in …

Sorry Dirk, I left out budget busting. When Obama took office, Julia's share of the national debt was $32,000. Today it's $138,300 and rising fast. Obama is the most divisive president in history and his shameful class warfare rhetoric is dividing the country into two groups: takers and taxpayers. Guess which one he wants Julia to be?   more ›

Local Walker Backers Set Second Support Rally for Saturday

Roadside rally at Brookfield Square will be more informal, less formatted than earlier Celebrate Walker event in Wauwatosa, with no speaker stand but lots of sign-waving.

A Brookfield rally Saturday in support of Gov. Scott Walker, organized by a local grassroots group, has been moved back a bit to coordinate with a larger political event scheduled for the same day. "Walker Backers At The Square," an informal gathering at Brookfield Square mall, is now set for 4 to 6 p.m. so there will be less conflict for those who wish to attend the daylong "Defending the American Dream Summit" in Milwaukee. "This is truly a grassroots event," said Meg Duffy, one of the volunteer organizers. "Homemade signs, signs pulled up out of the dirt in our lawns, just to promote Gov. Walker. "We'll be on one of the busiest streets at prime time for people coming home from work." Duffy and her fellow organizers are the same group …

Santorum Signs On to Event That Puts National Group's Focus on Wisconsin

But 'Defending the American Dream Summit' this weekend is about mobilizing the troops and educating citizens as Wisconsin's election season gets under way, organizers say.

A key national conservative organization will point a bright spotlight on southeastern Wisconsin Saturday in a daylong event boasting a potent lineup of Republican politicians, pundits and at least one presidential candidate. Former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, along with U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson and U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, lead the speaking lineup for the "Defending the American Dream Summit" in Milwaukee. Fox News contributor and columnist Michelle Malkin, and radio host and political commentator Tony Katz also will appear in the event at the Wyndham Hotel, 4747 S. Howell Ave., hosted by the Americans for Prosperity Foundation – Wisconsin. Santorum's presence here just a week-and-a half before Wisconsin's presidential …

@Mau -- your husband really doesn't know if he's anemic, has unsuspected high blood sugar, or has a cancer starting unless he gets checked out every so often. It's sensible to catch problems early.   more ›
