Gifford Elementary Students Harlem Shake

"The Itsy Bitsy Spider" has nothing on the Harlem Shake. Watch this group of students try to ignore and then succumb to the infectious beat.

Well, it had to happen sooner or later: even our elementary school students are getting in on the Harlem Shake. Welcome to Gifford Elementary's version of the dance/video craze sweeping the country. You'll notice the villain - Darth Vader - is the one who starts it all. But, soon the dancing bug bites the rest of the class and soon princesses, heroes, more villains, and even the teacher can't resist the pull of that infectious beat.

Harlem Shake: Racine Edition Videos

So there's this song that the kids have been listening to called the Harlem Shake. It's a catchy little tune and the big thing is performing the dance and putting it up on YouTube. Check out these videos.

College kids, high school kids and even babies are getting the "Harlem Shake" fever. Harlem Shake is the latest Internet meme, "with people everywhere grabbing a bunch of friends, schoolmates, colleagues, or whomever, really, and having a 30-second dance extravaganza," as Slate put it. The Atlantic Wire also has a good run-down of the Harlem Shake. And if you have one, add yours, the more the merrier.
