Heading East? Think Again.

With an estimated 1,000 flights already canceled, and about 1 in 4 Americans expected to realize some impact from Hurricane Irene, here's a quick run down of airlines flying out of Mitchell International Airport.

It might not be the biggest hurricane to hit the U.S., but Irene is certainly setting up a worst-case scenario, with an expected landfall near or in New York City on Sunday morning. In the meantime, flights are already being canceled in anticipation, so if you are like the vast majority of air travelers in the area, you will be trying to head out of town from Mitchell International Airport. As they always say, it's best to contact your airline, and not the airport, so here's a quick guide to the airlines flying out of Mitchell, and links to their flight status page.
